UniFi OS Server Hosting is Now Available with SimpliWiFi

Ubiquiti announced UniFi OS Server in August 2025 and compared to the outgoing UniFi Network Server, there are some major feature enhancements including InnerSpace, SiteMagic, UniFi Identity, Teleport VPN and more.

At the time, we announced that we were evaluating the platform and conducting extensive testing. That process has now been completed and we are happy to announce that new customers will have access starting today, with upgrades for existing customers happening soon.

What is UniFi OS?

UniFi OS is the underlying operating system that lives on UniFi Cloud Gateways and allows them to manage the various applications that Ubiquiti offers. This includes:

UniFi OS also offers advanced user management and tight integration with the UniFi Site Manager, giving you a single pane of glass for all of your UniFi deployments.

Until now, if you wanted to host your UniFi controller in the cloud rather than running it on a local gateway, the only option was the standalone UniFi Network Server application. That worked well for network management, but it couldn't run any of the other UniFi applications and had limited Site Manager integration.

UniFi OS Server changes this by bringing the full UniFi OS experience to cloud-hosted environments — the same platform that powers the UDM Pro and other UniFi OS Consoles, now available as a hosted service.

What is Available Now?

Any new customers that sign up from today to our Hosted UniFi OS Server plans will immediately have access to UniFi OS Server. Plans start at just £20 per month and this includes free migration assistance if you are moving from an existing controller.

Here is what you get with every SimpliWiFi-hosted UniFi OS Server plan:

What About Existing Users?

While new customers will get immediate access to UniFi OS Server, we are busy making sure that migrations from the legacy platform to the new one happen without any problems.

We are actively working on this and will be able to share an update soon. If you are an existing customer, you do not need to do anything — we will contact you directly when your upgrade is ready.

In the meantime, your current UniFi Network Server continues to work exactly as it does today. There is no rush and no disruption.

Does UniFi OS Server Support Multi-Site?

Because UniFi OS is the underlying operating system that lives on UniFi Cloud Gateways, it might be safe to assume that — like the UDM Pro — UniFi OS Server might not support multiple sites.

However, UniFi OS Server does support multi-site deployments, just like UniFi Network Server did. This means that each site can have separate admins, users, and settings, all managed from a single hosted controller.

For MSPs and IT managers overseeing multiple client sites, this is particularly important. You can continue to manage all of your sites from one place, with full role-based access control and per-site configuration.

Will All My Devices Work?

Yes. Any UniFi devices that currently work with the latest GA releases of UniFi Network Server or any Dream Machine will work with UniFi OS Server hosted with SimpliWiFi.

This includes all current-generation UniFi switches, access points, gateways, cameras, and other peripherals. If your devices are running supported firmware, they will adopt to your new UniFi OS Server without issues.

Key Features You Get with UniFi OS Server

Upgrading to UniFi OS Server unlocks several features that were previously only available on hardware-based UniFi OS Consoles like the UDM Pro. Here are the highlights:

Site Magic

Site Magic is Ubiquiti's zero-configuration site-to-site VPN technology. It automatically creates encrypted tunnels between your UniFi sites, allowing devices at different locations to communicate as if they were on the same network. For businesses with multiple offices or retail locations, this eliminates the need for complex VPN configuration and makes inter-site connectivity effortless.

Teleport VPN

Teleport VPN allows remote users to securely connect to their UniFi network from anywhere in the world using the UniFi mobile app or desktop client. This is particularly valuable for remote workers who need access to internal resources, printers, file servers, or IoT devices at the office. Teleport uses WireGuard under the hood, providing excellent performance with minimal battery drain on mobile devices.

UniFi Identity

UniFi Identity brings enterprise-grade identity and access management to UniFi deployments. It allows you to manage user accounts, enforce multi-factor authentication, and control who has access to your network resources. For organisations that need to comply with security policies or regulatory requirements, UniFi Identity provides the tools to enforce those policies centrally.

InnerSpace

InnerSpace is Ubiquiti's indoor mapping and analytics platform. It uses your UniFi access points to provide real-time location analytics, heatmaps, and visitor flow data. For retail environments, event venues, and large office spaces, InnerSpace provides valuable insights into how physical spaces are being used without requiring any additional hardware.

Full Site Manager Integration

While the standalone UniFi Network Server had limited integration with Ubiquiti's Site Manager, UniFi OS Server provides full-featured integration. This means you can manage all of your hosted controllers from the Ubiquiti Site Manager portal, view real-time alerts, push firmware updates, and monitor all of your sites from a single dashboard — regardless of where the controllers are hosted.
